THORNTOWN, Ind. (WLFI) — The Western Boone School Board has approved a plan for a school resource officer.
Over the last few months, Western Boone School Corporation and the Boone County Sheriff’s Office have been working on a plan to provide an SRO to the school system for the 2014-15 calendar year. Wednesday night a proposal was made to the school board.
The board voted to agree to the “Memorandum of Understanding” between the school corporation and the sheriff’s office. The mutual proposal was developed by Boone County Sheriff Mike Nielsen and Lt. Debbie Martin, along with WBSC Superintendent Dr. Judy Hendrix.
Sheriff Nielsen said in a release, it’s a great opportunity to enter into this partnership with Western Boone. He said they appreciate the hard work by the school system to make this become a reality.
