Montco Educators Get Marketing Pitch and More From an Electronic Learning Firm

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) — Some Montgomery County, Pa. educators today got a taste of what their classrooms might begin to look like as they learned about ways to better equip their students to be prepared for an unpredictable future.

The Montgomery County Intermediate Unit met this morning with Discovery Education, a company that sells digital textbooks and other electronic learning materials, for a mock “STEM” (science, technology, engineering, and math) academy for several dozen teachers and administrators.

Discovery hopes to transform the way students are taught in the future, going beyond just covering the curriculum that is taught now.

“And that future is really going to entail a lot of careers that involve collaboration, critical thinking, problem solving, thinking outside the box, and solving problems that don’t even exist yet,” noted Dr. Johnna Weller, Discovery’s director of professional education.
